Connecting an Oculus Rift to a Dell M3800 laptop

Hi There,

If there is anyone out there with Oculus Rift experience I need to connect the unit to a Dell M3800 laptop, and have had no success.

I'm Using either Windows 7.1 or Ubuntu

I need to get back to the Matrix

I was recommended 13 or 15 inch Alienware gaming laptop as you need a dedicated NVidia GeForce card. 

On requesting this from IT I was offered the Dell Precision M3800 as this has a 2GB dedicated NVidia Quadro. Not sure where to go from here...

My program coordinator suggested I just log a help desk call telling them my laptop is not 'fit for purpose' and request a swap to a macbook.

Might that fly?

The GetIT Special Request form can be used to request non-standard hardware/software for purchase.
Once you have an idea of the specifications you require, just log in to the GetIT store and click the Special Request link in the lower left of the screen. There will be fields in the form for you to clarify what you need and why you need it.
