Is there a preferred technology for screen-sharing at the University?

I want someone in Vietnam to share their screen with me.  Is there a preferred technology for this?

Hi @WayneAllen,

Thanks for posting!

The easiest way to screen share would likely be to use Google Hangouts, in which Screenshare is a function.

To share your screen:

  1. Open a Hangouts video call.
  2. Place your mouse by the left side of the video call window. A bar with various app icons will appear.
  3. Click the Screenshare icon (green monitor with an arrow on it)
  4. Choose whether to share your entire desktop, your browser window, or app.
  5. Click Start share.

Stop sharing your screen at any time by clicking the Screenshare icon.

To use Google Hangouts, you will first have needed to opt-in to Google Plus. If you haven't done so you can visit the opt-in page for staff:
http://www1.rmit.edu.au/staff/it/googleapps

1. Click the Opt-In link for Google+
2. Click the accept button and proceed to your staff email inbox.
3. Select Google+ from the Google Apps Icon in the upper right   GoogleAppsIcon.jpg
4. You will need to create a Google+ profile as the last step. Only your name, date of birth and gender are mandatory.

Once you have setup your Google+ the change should be available immediately.

Hope this helped you out!

Regards,
Adam

Thanks for the reply - it was very useful to know.  Unfortunately, I have discovered that Vietnam don't have this facility enabled in their Google hangouts, so I will have to find something else.
