Major IT outage: Printing, myDesktop, Shared Drives

We are currently experiencing an issue affecting a range of services including the following:

 

  • Printing
  • Shared Drives (eg. H:\ I:\ etc)
  • Telephone support centres (IT Support, RMIT Connect etc)
  • myDesktop
  • Ability to login to some lab computers
  • Research Master

ITS are working to resolve this issues ASAP, more updates to follow.

UPDATE as of 4pm. All systems listed above have now been confirmed as up and running. 

If you are continuing to experience issues with any of the above, please let us know in the comments below, or alternately, contact IT Support.

UPDATE: BookIT (aka MyPC) has now been restored. 

 

As of 4pm. All systems listed above have now been confirmed as up and running.

UPDATE: Telephone support centres are now up and running across RMIT, including RMIT Connect, IT Service & Support, HR Assist and Info Corner.

 

Work continues on resolving other IT issues.

I need to use myDesktop in my laptop to do the assignment.

Therefore, I want to know how long have you fixed the problem? And what time that I can connect to myDesktop?

Unfortunately, I don't have a firm timeframe on full restoration - though I can confirm that this outage is being worked on as Priority 1.

 

Work is currently being performed on myDesktop specifically, and I will post another update on this shortly.

UPDATE: Shared Drive access has now been restored. To re-connect to your drives, please restart your computer.

Any updates regarding Tech Issue would be greatly appreciated - There are few assignments to be due very soon so we need to have MyDesktop to be sorted ASAP.

I know there are network issues today but I wanted some information about the BookIt system. A lot of the computers in the library are saying 'No communication' and I people can't log on.

Work is still ongoing to restore myDesktop, and i have been advised that this should not be far off.

 

@Beth - thanks for the feedback on BookIT. The issue with this does relate to the overall network problem, and as of writing this, the BookIT system is in the process of being brought back up.
