Major upgrade for RMIT Data Centre and Network
Major upgrade for RMIT Data Centre and Network
Over the past year, ITS has invested significant time to develop the RMIT Data Centre and Networks. ITS supports over 100,000 staff, students and visitors annually and the technology we’ve invested in will lift or will have the ability to move data faster for everyone at RMIT.
We are now in the final stages of completing the upgrades – the last stage being the move of the Data Centre to the new and improved Network.
This major upgrade is scheduled to take place over the AFL Grand Final weekend, as the works for this require three days to complete, as follows:
- 6am to 9pm Friday 29 September
- 4pm Saturday 30 September to 7am Sunday 1 October.
During this time, all services will be shutdown down in a controlled manner to ensure the integrity of the University applications are not compromised, and will be restarted in a controlled manner to ensure all services are up and operational.
The three days over the Grand Final weekend provide an ideal window for this major upgrade to take place.
Please note: The upgrade work will not affect the following when accessing from off campus:
- Staff and student email
- Google services (Docs, Sheets etc.)
- RMIT’s public facing website (www.rmit.edu.au)
- RMIT’s student website (www.rmit.edu.au/students)
Please note: All other IT systems will be unavailable during the outage window.
