Plagiarism software
Hi
I know T&L staff at RMIT use Turnitin software to assess the originality and quality of material, but is there an equivalent for students before they submit to check they have not "accidentally" plagiarised? I've been warned that some of the free software actually sells on essays etc.
Thanks

Re: Plagiarism software
There isn't any equivalent that's sanctioned by RMIT as far as I know.
I don't think it'd really make sense from an academic integrity perspective, either. I know that at other Unis there has been a Turnitin "Similarity Score" given to the student every time they attempt to submit - this tended to lead to students trying to "beat the software", rather than focus on writing original essays in the first place.
