I am a new student who recently recieved the student card from RMIT connect services and is just experiementing to what degree of access and places I can visit whlist being a student at RMIT.
During this exploration I stumbled upon a tiny room called the Vault on Swanston street near Buliding 8 and the Swanston street library. I tried swiping my card but I wasnt given access and a sign suggested I go to the security building before I do so I wanted to ask a few questions
My questions are:
Is this room accessible to all students on campus or restricted to some?
how do you gain access and if so how do I go about doing so ?
and what is actually inside the buliding itself ?
And also with the card, where and what else am I permitted to use on campus?
Thank you

Hi @Weijun and welcome!
Your student card can be enabled to allow swipe access to rooms and spaces at RMIT, though by default this is not the case.
There are several study spaces such as The Vault and the 24/7 computer lab in Building 28 (see pic above) which you can access with your card once it has been set up by the security desk. You simply need to go to building 14 (corner of Franklin & Bowen st) and ask for this.
You can find more contact info for security here: http://www1.rmit.edu.au/security/contact#calls
Both the Vault and the 24 hour lab are open to all students. There are some spaces which are restricted to HDR students for example.
For some more info on student spaces, check out this: http://www1.rmit.edu.au/students/space
Hope this helps.
