As we are wishing Blackboard and our learning experience using this system a fond goodbye, we are thrilled to have Canvas as RMIT's new Learning Management System.

There will be no change to how you access Blackboard.  Students will continue to be able to review existing Blackboard content, assignments and grades.

RMIT staff will access Blackboard content via their new RMIT Limited Access role. This new role will allow RMIT Instructors to view past Blackboard content whilst restricting edit access.  Access to Blackboard Collaboration tools such as Wikis, Blogs and Journals will continue to be available.

For specific details on impacts please refer below.

Crocodoc End of Life

Blackboard’s service for inline grading is currently available via the Crocodoc. As of January 15, 2018, Crocodoc’s vendor, Box Inc., has discontinued their support of the Crocodoc service.  Assignment Inline Grading with Crocodoc will no longer be available to Blackboard users worldwide after this date.  The Crocodoc end of life does not impact inline grading with Turnitin assignments or the Turnitin Feedback Studio.

There is no option to upgrade RMIT’s Blackboard to the Box View API.

Staff wishing to finalise Blackboard assignments after January 15, 2018 can continue to review submissions offline and assign grades and feedback using standard Blackboard functionality.  Inline annotations will no longer be available.

For further information / support, please refer to the following Blackboard support articles:

Blackboard Mobile End of Life

With the release of iOS 11 on September 19, 2017 for iPhones and iPads, Apple will no longer support 32-bit apps, including Mobile Learn, Blackboard’s original mobile application for students and instructors.  In addition, Blackboard have advised that they cannot guarantee continued usability of the application.

To achieve a consistent Student and Staff experience RMIT Blackboard will no longer be available for connection via Blackboard’s Mobile app.

There is no current option to upgrade RMIT’s Blackboard to connect with Blackboard Student or Blackboard Instructor
