Your Linux distribution must have the following:
- Linux kernel version 2.6 or higher
- Network Manager 0.7.0 or higher
- WPA Supplicant 0.6.3 or higher
- Drivers available for your wireless network card
Some Linux distributions that meet these criteria are:
- Fedora 9 or higher
- Ubuntu 8.04 or higher
- SUSE ** IP Address ** or higher
To connect to the RMIT-University wireless network:
Step 1. Click the ‘Network Manager Wireless’ icon in the system tray
A list of available networks displays
Step 2. Select ‘RMIT-University’network
The Wireless Network Authentication Required screen displays
Complete the following fields:
Wireless security: WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
Inner authentication: MSCHAPv2
Username: your RMIT ID
Password: your NDS password (same password as for myRMIT and computer/website login)
Step 3. Click ‘Connect’ button
The warning No Certificate Authority certificate chosen dialogue box displays
Step 4. Click ‘Ignore’ button
The Network Manager application will connect
A dialogue box displays confirming RMIT-University, Connection Established
