From 1 May 2016, Picasa will be retired and Google Photos will be the one place to organise, view, edit and share digital photos.
To get you started, if you have a Picasa Web Album, your photos and videos are available in there now. Using Google Photos, you can continue to upload and organise your images and videos. It’s a good idea to start using Google Photos today so you’re familiar with the system before the change.
Please note, comments, tags and captions that were created in Picasa may not be available in Google Photos.
If you use the Picasa desktop app, from 15 March 2016 it will no longer be supported by Google - this means that it will continue to work as is, however Google won’t be developing or troubleshooting issues further.
By using Google Photos, you can upload photos and videos using the desktop uploader at photos.google.com/apps.
How to access Google Photos:
From the Apps Launcher (the nine little squares on the top right of your gmail mailbox), see the icon Photos and click on it.
If you cannot see this icon, you will need to opt-in.
Alternatively, you can use this link: http://photos.google.com/
