In December 2016 RMIT upgraded the RMIT's Turnitin building block from version 2.5.28 to 2.7.1.
This upgrade resolved a number of key support issues, most importantly resolving Turnitin issues relating to rolled over courses and syncing grades between Turnitin and Blackboard. The upgrade also enabled access to Turnitin’s new Feedback Studio.
Unfortunately Turnitin depreciated support for Blackboard's Student Preview function from version 2.6.1 onwards. This means that Turnitin no longer supports access to the Turnitin assignment viewer while in Student Preview mode.
Staff wishing to test an assignment submission or to gain insight into the Turnitin Assignment submission process are advised to use Turnitin's functionality to Submit papers on a student's behalf for a Non-enrolled Student. This provides equivalent functionality and is fully supported by Turnitin.
Using Non-enrolled Student submissions means you can experience assignment submission first hand if you want to test your assignment is working. You can also generate ad-hoc Originality Reports or even use this as a method of familiarising yourself with the new Feedback Studio Grading Tools.
In addition to this being fully supported Turnitin functionality, your Non-enrolled student is never added into your Blackboard Grade centre thus reducing the number of students in your grade centre, and your file is never added to the Turnitin repository.
For further details on how to submit a Turnitin assignment as a Non-enrolled student please refer to the Turnitin online guide for Submitting Papers.
