Student exchange involves studying for one or two semesters at an overseas institution with which RMIT University has a reciprocal agreement (exchange partner). RMIT sends students to the partner institution and they send the same number of students to us.

There are over 150 RMIT Student Exchange Partners spread across the world.
You are enrolled into RMIT exchange course codes and your fees are paid to RMIT as you do when enrolled in Melbourne.

Study Abroad

If you have found an institution that is not on our Student Exchange Partners list, you still have the option of studying for one or two semesters.

You are enrolled into RMIT study abroad course codes (provided in confirmation letter) and fees are paid to your chosen host institution rather than to RMIT.

Both options require you to make an application through the Mobi online application system and submit a study plan for approval.

On your return, your international transcript will be checked against your approved study plan and your exchange/study abroad course grades will be changed to a pass or fail grade. These grades do not contribute to your GPA.

To attend a global mobility information session, please book in here. It is compulsory to attend one of these sessions if you are planning to apply.
