Ramping up of works in Building 8

The new NAS spaces in Buildings 10, 12 and 14 will be opening in the first half of 2017. Here's the details and dates-

Access pathways are changing across Building 8, 10, 12 and 14 as NAS construction works on the final stage start over the holiday break.

RMIT Connect is moving

With stage three works starting soon, from Monday 21 November RMIT Connect will be temporarily relocated to Building 28, level 3, where the 24-7 student lab is currently located. The Student Computer Lab will move to Building 8, level 7. RMIT Connect will move into its new home in early 2017.

Real life experience: students of New Academic Street

According to the latest New Academic Street (NAS) Pulse Survey conducted in June 2016, 98 per cent of RMIT staff are aware of the NAS Project.

A view to rival any in Melbourne’s CBD has been revealed as RMIT’s new Student Portals were opened in time for semester one. The three level, 330-seat Student Portals study space in Building 10 is the first stage of RMIT’s New Academic Street project to delivered.

Daniel Oldfield, a final year PhD candidate in Applied Physics, has drawn on his expertise as a microscopist to create unique pieces of art.

His work features microscopic objects such as gold particles, coral reef, marine animal shells and pollen among others enlarged to a sized which portrays interesting shapes, textures and patterns.

An artwork created almost entirely out of recycled signage has been installed in the Building 12 level 4 lift lobby at RMIT’s City campus.

Part of the Urban Animators public art program, RMIT alumnus artist Chris Bold was challenged to produce an artwork out of 95 per cent recycled materials.
