Exchange for SECE students
Does going on exchange affect your course structure if you miss a core subject such as Engineering Design 3?

Re: Exchange for SECE students
Yes, definitely!
I went on exchange for six months and missed a core subject that was only offerred in the semester I was away. Because of that, I had to take a leave of absence until I was able to come back in the right semester and sit the subject. Unfortunately, if the subject is a mandatory part of your program structure, there usually isn't a way to get out of doing it.
All of that being said, there's a slim possibility that you will study something overseas which is equivalent to Engineering Design 3, the only person who can give you the yes or no on that issue is the program manager.
I am not sure on your exact program, but if you shoot an email through to engineering@rmit.edu.au with some details about your study plans, they will let you know what your options are.
Thanks for the Q!
