Eduroam - Other Universities

As I understand the eduroam system allows RMIT staff/students to connect to a common access point using an RMIT specific login. I was curious as to how widespread this system is - are all Universities in Australia part of this system? Does it extend to other countries?

I ask this question as I saw an eduroam connection available in NZ when I was there recently, but it seemed unable to connect.

Re: Eduroam - Other Universities

Eduroam is a world-wide university network. In theory, you should be able to connect with RMIT credentials to any eduroam network anywhere in the world. In practice, it doesn't work, and it is hard to connect to eduroam even when you are on RMIT campus because of errors in the guides on the RMIT web page.

Hi mjanderson and vera!

Welcome to myTechCommunity, thanks for posting.

Eduroam is accessible world wide. The service was developed for the international research and education community. So other universities in Australia and around the world are accessible to using eduroam.

If you would like further information how to connect to eduroam using your RMIT credentials, please visit our eduroam webpage:

You can also visit the eduroam website for further information: https://www.eduroam.org/

The user guides on the RMIT webpage have recently been updated to the most up to date information.

I hope this was helpful.
